I Believe in The Jersey Devil - I Wanna Believe - Cryptid Tee
Wander the Pine Barrens and shout at the devil in this updated classic.
The Jersey Devil is a legendary, winged, bipedal creature with the head of a horse or goat, horns, and a forked tail that has reportedly haunted New Jersey’s Pine Barrens for over 250 years. Originating around 1735, the tale centers on “Mother Leeds,” who allegedly cursed her 13th child, causing it to transform into a monster and fly into the woods.
The myth may stem from colonial-era political disputes involving the Leeds family and Benjamin Franklin. Notable reports came from Commodore Stephen Decatur and Joseph Bonaparte. in 1909 widespread panic erupted during a week of intense sightings, causing school and factory closures.
